With a proven track record in defense and aerospace—sectors in which he has held top leadership positions at various international companies—Luis Mayo holds
a degree in aeronautical engineering from the Higher Technical School of Aeronautical Engineering at the Polytechnic University of Madrid and has completed
several executive programs at IESE Business School.
Mayo served as CEO of the GMV Group, a global leader in technological solutions for the aerospace, defense, transportation, and ICT sectors, where he led the company’s expansion, transforming it into a world leader in satellite control centers and a key player in satellite navigation.
Between 2000 and 2009, he served on the Board of Directors of Galileo Sistemas y Servicios and chaired the company from 2002 to 2003, representing it on the
Board of Directors of Galileo Industries.
From 2009 to 2018, he served as Chairman and CEO of Tecnobit, where he was also a shareholder and a member of the Executive Committee. Between 2020
and 2022, he served as CEO of TESS Defence, the company established to lead the supply and operational support of the VCR 8×8 Dragón combat vehicle.
Since 1998, he has contributed to the development of the National Space Plan, and in 2020 he was appointed chair of the advisory committee for the European Space Agency’s (ESA) Navigation Innovation Support Pro�gram. Mayo has also been a full member of the French Air and Space Academy since 2005 and serves on the
advisory committee of the Spanish Institute for Strategic Studies (IEEE) at the Higher Center for National Defense Studies (CESEDEN). Since 1998, he has contributed continuously to the development of the National Space Plan and national strategies in this field.
