Tim Hughes is Senior Vice President, Global Business & Government Affairs at SpaceX. His work sits at the intersection of law, markets, and national policy. Today his portfolio covers civil and national security space, political affairs, and domestic and international policy and regulation for both launch and satellite. He joined the company in 2005 as its first General Counsel and built SpaceX’s legal and government affairs functions from the ground up. Before SpaceX, he served as Republican Counsel to the House Committee on Science and Technology, where he was the principal attorney behind the Commercial Space Launch Amendments Act of 2004. He is a graduate of William & Mary Law School and Georgetown University’s School of Foreign Service.
