Bio

Colonel Guillaume BOURDELOUX began his career as a fighter pilot upon his graduation from the French Air Force Academy in 1993 with a degree in aeronautics engineering. He exercised multiple levels of command, held responsibilities in operational fighter squadrons, and flew Mirage F1 in Colmar AFB and F16 MLU as an exchange pilot in Twente AFB , in the Netherlands. In 2008, after graduating from the War College, he took command of the 2/3 “Champagne” fighter squadron in Nancy-Ochey AFB for 3 years. As a squadron commander, he went on multiple deployments with his unit to Afghanistan and Libya, and implemented several M2000D system upgrades such as Link 16, ROVER and GBU49. Subsequently, he assumed a role of a military detaché to Dassault Aviation as an operational advisor to work with Dassault civilian engineers on the development of next-generation French combat aircrafts. In 2013, he was chosen to take up a newly created position of French liaison and exchange officer within the Royal Canadian Air Force HQ in Ottawa. His responsibilities include both developing bilateral relations between the RCAF and the FAF and heading up the global engagement team within the RCAF Directorate of Air readiness and Plans. Promoted to colonel in October 2014, Guillaume Bourdeloux took command of RCAF HQ transformation under DG Air Rdns & Plans. Back in Paris in 2016, he served for three years in the realms of public affairs, first as deputy French Air Force PA then as the head of the Media department within the Ministry of Defense Information and communication agency. In 2019, he took up the command of air base 705 in Tours. Along with the numerous responsibilities as a base commander, he was also given the tasks of relocating the fighter school to Cognac AB in 2020 and transferring military airport activities to the civilian in 2021. In the summer of 2021, he became the Commander of the French Space Operations brigade. Colonel Guillaume BOURDELOUX flew 115 war missions in Chad, Afghanistan and Libya. His decorations include Chevalier of the Legion of Honour, officer of the order of merit, Cross for military valour, Aeronautical medal, RCAF commander’s special commendation and CAF commander’s commendation. Colonel Guillaume BOURDELOUX enjoys running, hiking, mountain biking, sailing and skiing with his wife LaLana and his two sons Henri and Hadrien.
