Pakorn Apaphant

Bio

Dr. Pakorn Apaphant is the leader of a national space agency in Thailand, GISTDA. He is paving the way for the organization to delivery value from space by developing space technology and geo-informatics applications that benefit the general public, as well as offering data services, conducting research and development, and advancing the nation's space economy.
Prior to this role, he served as an executive committee member for governmental offices with academic and political dimensions as well as for private businesses. He served on the boards of the Electricity Generating Authority of Thailand, the Expressway Authority of Thailand and the Software Industry Promotion Agency (Public Organization). He was recently appointed to the Subcommittee on Space Affairs under the Commission of Science, Technology, Information and Mass Communication and the Subcommittee on Satellite Affairs under the Commission of National Broadcasting and Telecommunications.
Dr. Pakorn is currently one of Thailand's key leaders in the country's space law and new space economy. He has advanced innovative space-based technology to address all management disciplines and regional challenges and leverage national and regional development. In an effort to increase global connectedness, he connects the organization with worldwide space agencies and stakeholders to foster global links between business and academia to represent Thailand in international space initiatives.
