The World Geospatial Industry Council (WGIC) is a global not-for-profit trade association of private sector companies working in the geospatial ecosystem. WGIC collaborates with multilateral and international organizations with the objective to strengthen the contributions of the geospatial industry to society, and the global economy.
WGIC’s areas of focus:
Policy Advocacy: Through policy research and outreach programs, WGIC undertakes policy advocacy in collaboration with public authorities, multilateral agencies, and user industry communities. Spatial Digital Twins, Public-Private Partnerships (PPPs), Artificial Intelligence/Machine learning, and Personal Data Privacy are some of the policy topics WGIC covered in its recent reports that you may access here.
Thematic Programs: With climate as an overarching theme, WGIC focuses on areas including Disaster Resilience, Energy Transition, and Sustainable Infrastructure. WGIC works towards demonstrating the value and utility of geospatial technologies in these focus areas.
Cross-cutting Efforts: WGIC is committed to putting continuous efforts towards Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) and Industry-Academia Collaboration.
