Patrick O’Neil is the Chief Technology Officer at BlackSky and is responsible for the design and execution of BlackSky’s end-to-end space, ground systems and software architecture. He oversees the day-to-day operations of the constellation as well as the strategic advancement of the company’s real-time monitoring products and their alignment in meeting current and future customer mission requirements.
Patrick joined BlackSky in 2015 following the acquisition of on-demand location services firm OpenWhere, where he developed the core algorithms that inform many of BlackSky’s industry-leading artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning (ML) innovations.
Patrick serves on the George Mason University Dean’s Advisory Board and the Center for Mathematics and AI.
Patrick earned a Bachelor of Science degree in mathematics from Virginia Tech and went on to earn both his Master of Science and Doctoral degrees in mathematics at George Mason University.
