Bio

Dr. Sarah C. Brothers is the director of the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) Commercial Remote Sensing Regulatory Affairs (CRSRA) division of the Office of Space Commerce. CRSRA regulates the operation of private remote sensing space systems subject to the jurisdiction of the United States. She has previously been a project engineer with The Aerospace Corporation, a senior analyst with the Johns Hopkins University Applied Physics Laboratory, and a staff officer with the National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine. In these roles, she has assessed impacts of emerging commercial space technologies, with a focus on remote sensing capabilities, and developed and implemented policy in the commercial, security, and civil space sectors. Dr. Brothers holds a Ph.D. in geology from the University of Texas at Austin and a B.A. in geology from Bryn Mawr College.
